One of the most exciting parts of being a Unionville student is the wide range of clubs available to them. Clubs allow students to engage in their interests, find new hobbies, and meet new people. For freshman, the club fair can feel overwhelming because there is so much to see, but there is no need to worry. The club fair is a two-day event, allowing students plenty of time to see each club and get information about its activities. If you are interested in joining a club, the process is simple. Club leaders provide sign-up sheets where students can enter their school email address. Within a week, students will receive an email inviting them to the club’s interest meeting. Attendance is highly encouraged if you have a genuine interest in that club. All meetings happen during lunch, so students do not have to worry about conflicts with their after school commitments. Every club has something to offer, so even if you think you may not be interested at first, you may be surprised to discover a new interest.

The fair offers a variety of clubs, with something for everyone. For example, the Ski Club offers skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to participate in trips organized by the school. In SHOC (Students Helping Other Classmates), students can serve as either mentors or members of the leadership team, working towards supporting upcoming freshmen on SHOC Day in May. While these larger clubs draw in many students, it’s also important to explore the smaller and newer clubs. There truly is a club for everyone. Interested in business? Look out for FBLA and DECA. Interested in the sciences? Check out Science in a Bag, HOSA, Forensic Science Club, etc. Whatever your interests or hobbies may be, there is likely a club for you. If you cannot find a club that interests you, reach out to Mr. Eric Peoples about starting your own!

If for some reason you miss the club fair, don’t think you’ve missed your chance to join a club. Students can still access a list of clubs offered through the Unionville website. Just go to the high school page, find the “Clubs and Activities” section, and select a club to find more information and its advisors. All you have to do is reach out and ask to be added to the club’s email list. The club fair will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday September 29-30. Everyone should take advantage of this opportunity to meet the leaders, learn about each club, and find something new to try!
