Administration Coordinates Senior Graduation Ceremony

By Sunday Marcantuno

At Unionville High School, graduation is more than just a ceremony—it’s the result of months of careful planning, coordination, and student involvement. Behind the scenes, administrators, teachers, and student leaders work together to ensure the event runs smoothly and reflects the accomplishments of the senior class.

Planning for graduation typically begins well in advance of the event. School administrators coordinate logistics such as deciding on the venue, seating arrangements, and scheduling, while also working closely with faculty to organize the program itself. From selecting music to confirming speakers, every detail is considered to create a meaningful experience for graduates and their families. One of the event coordinators, Mrs. Lyles said, “I enjoy watching students reflect on their past and celebrate all they’ve been through.”

In the weeks leading up to graduation, rehearsals play a crucial role. Seniors gather to practice walking across the stage, lining up in the correct order, and following cues to ensure the ceremony flows seamlessly. These rehearsals help reduce nerves and prevent confusion on the big day, allowing students to focus on the significance of the moment rather than logistics.

For many students, graduation is both exciting and emotional, a final goodbye to high school and the start of a new chapter. “I hope that the students can take it all in and it’s a moment they’ve been working towards,” said Mrs. Holmes, another event coordinator. The ceremony reflects not only individual achievements but also the shared experiences that have shaped the class over the years. Ultimately, graduation at Unionville High School is a carefully crafted event that celebrates growth, community, and the future ahead for its students.
