Giada Laurelli at signing day

Athlete of the Month

By Reagan Wilson

Senior Giada Laurelli has played a crucial role in her team’s success since her sophomore year of joining the girls’ rowing team. She constantly delivers grit, hard work ethic, and fast times, along with her consistency as a rower. She encourages her teammates to always work hard and to never give up, even when practices can feel overwhelming.

Laurelli is greatly valued by her teammates; she has led her teams to multiple victories, such as placing fifth at the Occoquan this fall. Her hopes are to medal top three at the SRAAs (Scholastic Rowing Association of America) the following spring season. She practices five days a week all year, and always puts 110 percent effort into everything, which allows the underclassmen to look up to her.

Laurelli will forever be remembered as a hardworking, persistent, and competitive student-athlete at the high school. Her advice for underclassmen: “Show up every day and put in the work. Consistency is key.” Laurelli is furthering her rowing career at the University of Virginia. We all wish her the best of luck!
