Senior Will Coleman has made a significant impact on the high school Boysâ Swimming and Diving team as a captain, guiding underclassmen to represent their school with class and great sportsmanship. He encourages his teammates to swim to their fullest potential even when hard times get in the way.
Coleman has been swimming competitively since he was two years old and has been on varsity since his freshman year. He always shows up for early practices and supports his teammates during meets. He practices five days a week: 3 morning practices and two in the afternoon. As a captain, he ensures everyone feels like they belong, including inviting everyone to post-meetings at Applebeeâs, and hangouts on the weekends. Because swimming is such an individual sport, he wants to make it more of a team environment, and aims to be a team of friends rather than just teammates.
Coleman will forever be remembered as a hard worker, persistent, and competitive student-athlete at the high school. One piece of advice that he has for underclassmen is, âFind love for your sport. If you hate what you do, youâre gonna be bad at it.â We all wish him the best of luck after high school!
