Athlete of the Month: Ryan Hart
By Alicia Chou
Senior Ryan Hart has been a valuable member of the boys’ tennis team for all four years of high school. This year, he played at the team’s first singles and served as one of the team’s senior captains.
Hart began playing tennis at just four-years old. After previously playing third doubles, he made significant improvements over the summer to earn the first singles position. As captain, his main goal was to help the team reach the state tournament, which they accomplished in a close match against Council Rock North. The team later advanced to the state semifinals before being eliminated, marking an impressive post-season run. Hart considers the victory against Council Rock North his favorite memory with the team.
Next year, Hart will play Division 3 tennis at Muhlenberg College while studying political science. Regarding his goals as an athlete, Hart says, “I just wanna grow as a player. If we’re measuring that on paper, I’d say I’d want to get up to a 9 UTR (Universal Tennis Rating).”
Hart has been an excellent leader and role model for underclassmen. His advice to younger players is to “Just keep playing and stay consistent, even when [they] don’t want to.”
Throughout his time at the high school, Hart has been a dedicated, hard-working, and supportive student-athlete both on and off the court. We wish him the best of luck at Muhlenberg College!
