Chadds Ford Art Show Displays Community Creations
By Sunday Marcantuno
For more than seven decades, the Chadds Ford Art Show and Sale has woven art, community, and education into one of Brandywine Valley’s most cherished traditions. On Saturday, March 14, 2026, that tradition continued as Chadds Ford Elementary School hosted its 77th Annual Art Show and Sale, open to visitors from ten a.m. to five p.m. Admission was free and art enthusiasts of all ages were welcomed.
“Every year, this event highlights how the arts connect us as a community,” the Chadds Ford Elementary PTO, a longtime organizer of the show, said. “It’s inspiring to see both artists and neighbors come together to support our school and celebrate creativity.”
Adding to the excitement, the 2026 show introduced a new Artisan Market, expanding to two rooms dedicated to pottery, sculpture, jewelry, woodworking, and other handmade wares, a reflection of growing interest in the region’s artisan community. There were also raffle prizes featuring donated artwork and an online auction, both of which supported the school’s Parent Teacher Organization, which funds educational enhancements such as outdoor experiential learning spaces.
Founded in 1949 by Betsy Wyeth, wife of famed artist Andrew Wyeth, the show remains the school’s largest annual fundraiser. “What began as a small community gathering has grown into a celebration of local talent and philanthropy,” noted a PTO volunteer. “It’s an honor to continue a legacy that’s lasted 77 years.” With its colorful displays, community warmth, and philanthropic mission, the Chadds Ford Art Show and Sale continues to honor its rich artistic roots while inspiring the next generation of creators.
