By Karolina Simonik
On November 14, the high school’s Theatre Program kicked off their show weekend and had their opening night of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. The play was a wonderful success, having a strong turn out of family, students, staff, and the rest of the school community in the audience. The director, English teacher James Foster, did a tremendous job with the creativity of the show, and his effort and dedication was woven throughout the amazing performance.
The play was a memorable and captivating watch. The cast displayed impressive acting skills, with outstanding performances coming from each actor and actress. Especially incredible performances came from Vivian Skidd as Elizabeth, Jackson Coon as Henry, Jackson Fink as Victor Frankenstein, and Andrew Steuber as The Monster. Morgan Monthei and Katherine Cotrotsios as Mary Shelley and her subconscious, respectively, delivered powerful performances, captivating the emotional turmoil and emotional depth of the novel and production.
The cast and crew poured an immense amount of effort into this show. The execution of the set, the soundtrack, and costumes were perfectly cohesive to the show and its eerie atmosphere. As a community, the high school is incredibly lucky to have such a dedicated Theatre Company, and productions like this one highlight the talent of its theatre program. Junior Vivian Skidd shared her gratitude for the experience, saying, “I was so lucky to figure out my character along with some of the most talented people I know. Everyone involved was so important in making this [show] happen, and I’ll miss it forever.”
While the Fall Play has ended, there are still more opportunities to be involved with the high school’s Theatre Program. The high school’s winter musical, Newsies, is holding auditions on November 18 and 19. And even if you choose not to participate, make sure to go out and support the Theatre Program and see Newsies on February 26-28.
