Introducing the UHS School Store Club
By Ellie Glembocki
The high school’s School Store has been an essential part of the school community for years. The store is best known for selling pencils, erasers, fidget toys, hosting lemonade stands at the end of the year, and themed offers around holidays, such as hot chocolate becoming available for anyone wearing an ugly Christmas sweater. Juniors Izzy D’Antonio and Lila Baichi are improving the school store by incorporating more student involvement and designing merchandise to further advertise.
The club is accepting students from all grade levels for the designing team, social media advertising, and managing the finances. The main goal of the club is to expand the number of items offered to students and thrive by raising money and selling new merchandise. The merchandise can be bought by students, staff, teachers, family, and friends of community members. The club has already designed hoodies, crewnecks, t-shirts, and accessories for the store. The designing team being student-run is very beneficial to the store's future because the members have first-hand opinions and tastes that are similar to the students who would be purchasing.
D’Antonio, one of the club’s founders, said, “Our goals for the club are to continue to have the school store run by students and spark more interest from students to buy our products.” In addition to this, since both club leaders are currently juniors, they hope to recruit underclassmen so that the club will continue once they graduate. The merchandise is basic for everyone in the community to enjoy, and they’ll be selling T-shirts, hoodies, crewnecks, and sweatpants with universal school logo designs.
The club is planning to launch their website and release their first clothing drop on Wednesday, March 25. Stay on the lookout within the next month for new merchandise and stop by the store at the elevator lobby to support the club. The high school’s Life Skills students are still running the school store and are excited for their new additions from the club's design team.
