Met Gala Wrapped: Battle of the Best Dressed
By Taryn Coursey
Each year, The Met Gala is a highly exclusive charity event held in New York City including only the most popularized people in the public eye. The 2026 Met Gala, centered on the theme “Fashion Is Art” brought together some of the most controversial and out-of-the ordinary outfits to date, and together we are here to unpack this fiasco. At this year's gala, the attendees aimed to form an outfit that connected gallery art pieces with high fashion. This theme created an extremely wide range of outfits, including a lack of dress code. The red carpet transformed into a less traditional runway and into a unique moss garden. Blake Lively stunned the paparazzi when walking by with a thirteen foot long train.
Next, Hudson Williams shocked the crowd with his intense eye makeup, and Bad Bunny put together an eclectic old-fashioned look that was a sight for sore eyes! By social media vote, the best dressed award belongs to Beyoncé, Emma Chamberlain, Kendall Jenner, A$AP Rocky, Rihanna, and Zoë Kravitz. Controversially, the worst dressed were Troye Sivan, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Jack Harlow, and Trisha Paytas, all sporting baggy and unflattering outfits. Unfortunately, we can’t even factor Timothée Chalamet into this equation, as he royally skipped out on the event for other plans (apparently the Knicks’ game was more important.)
Overall, from baroque-style dresses to famous paintings incorporated into outfits, the theme of the 2026 Met Gala was an utter success. Dissecting through the screen, fans watched like a hawk over the as expected glamorous and out-done famous appearances this year. The jaw-dropping moments of creativity that “wowed” the crowd only leaves us to wonder what the theme will hold next year and how the dress code will be properly executed.
