New staff positions bring change

The 2025-2026 school year has started up, but this year there are some differences in staff. The high school has introduced new faculty members as well as placed previous teachers into new positions. These changes are incredibly significant, with a new principal, dean of students, and assistant principals.

Due to former Superintendent Dr. John Sanville's retirement last year, some changes in leadership have been made at the high school. Mr. Pat Crater has replaced Dr. Amy Jenkins as principal, which created more opportunities for teachers to move to leadership positions.

Former Social Studies teachers Mr. Eric Peoples and Ms. Natalie Carter have moved up in the high school staff positions; Peoples was selected for the position of Dean of Students and Carter gained the position of Assistant Principal.

Carter, the new Assistant Principal, says while “[it] was a tough choice to leave the classroom,” she is excited to “get into classrooms this year” and “support all the Unionville students and all of the teachers.”

Peers and staff are also ready to see the improvements in gratitude and kindness at the high school. As Mr. Peoples has taken over, the student body is ecstatic. Junior Clara Pollak says, “Mr. Peoples is great with the students, and takes time to get to know us all. He’s perfect for Dean of Students.” Many are excited to see the new improvements he can make by connecting with the students.

Overall, students and administration look forward to fresh and personal goals the staff will bring to their new positions. With these new placements, fresh improvements, perspectives, and ideas are expected for the future of the high school. As the school year progresses, the community anticipates how they will make the high school an even better, flourishing environment for students and staff.
