Patton Celebrates Halloween with Trunk or Treat

As anyone who lives in our charming corner of Pennsylvania knows, October is one of the most exciting and eventful months of the year. Beginning with the first bite into warm s'mores on a chilly evening and ending with an eventful Halloween night, the activities that fill our calendars during this month are more than just fun; they create timeless traditions that have remained in our area's legacy for years to come. An upcoming addition to these memorable festivities is the district's second Annual Trunk or Treat Festival, which will be held at Patton Middle School on October 25.

To understand this budding tradition further, I spoke to Ms. Nikki Laroya, the Director of Communications Mrs. Laroya explained that Trunk or Treat is part of a collaboration with the local district-focused Greet Magazine. The event is designed to be a Halloween-themed gathering of different small businesses in our area.

"Our local partners [host] a Halloween truck and hand out sweet treats to our guests, who are welcome to wear costumes and bring a bag," she said. Although last year was only its first, the event was incredibly successful, with over 200 people in attendance. Laroya went on to add that the event also serves as an opportunity for new families or those with younger kids to get to know the community. "We're hoping that students K-12, maybe even younger than kindergarten, will come out for the event," she said. Being in the afternoon, the program additionally provides an option for children who live in smaller neighborhoods to earn candy. The greatest strength of Trunk or Treat, however, is its ability to encapsulate the joyful spirit of our community during festive times like Halloween. Laroya agreed with me, adding "[Trunk or Treat] honors the close-knit nature of our community, and lets us enjoy treats while we're at it!"
