Sprinting into Spring Sports
By Hunter Gilday
With spring beginning, so does a new season of athletics. Athletes return to the fields, tracks, courts and turf; after months of preparation in the off-season, we can see the culmination of all these teams’ hard work. All the sports recently kicked off on March 7, and all the athletes appreciate the warmer weather. Sophomore lacrosse player Kasey Terranova said it best: “Spring sport season is what I look forward to all year long — knowing I’ll be on the field with people who got my back.”
Senior and captain of the track and field team, Brady Lasher, puts it well how all the “miserable work in the winter” now gets “to go to something valuable.” The rough months of preparation for all the runners that participated during the fall and winter season get to finally ramp up their pace and try to finish the year out strong. During this time, many athletes finally feel like they can put their hours of work to the test, especially after waiting all year long.
Two sophomore up and comers, Ryan Boyle and Anthony Scattalino, when asked about their upcoming lacrosse season, both importantly noted how they feel that, after all the work they’ve put in together, it “feels like a brotherhood, and that’s what we’re built off of.” Boyle was especially positive and hopeful in his interview about the idea of success for the boys’ team in the ‘26 season. Scattalino said his love for the sport came from the team aspect, and how “lacrosse is one of those sports where you can’t just rely on one person to do their job.” There is a lot to look forward to when it comes to sports this season. From seniors finishing up their sports careers to freshmen having their first seasons, it will be exciting to see how it plays out. Good luck to all sports teams competing this spring!
