There are trademarks that signal the holiday season â the Christmas music echoing in every department store throughout December, a sudden wave of gingerbread flavored treats, the mandatory Home Alone rewatch, and, of course, the friendly neighborhood contest to see who can light up their house the best with festive decorations, where one house inevitably outshines the rest and the others must graciously concede defeat. On December 5, that spotlight belonged to the Chadds Ford Township building, with its beautifully lit-up Christmas tree that was simply too pretty to ignore. Every year, the lighting of this tree is a beloved local tradition, where families gather at the township building to watch the tree come to life while enjoying other seasonal activities, such as decorating cookies, making sâmores, and taking pictures with the local fire departmentâs Santa.
The highlight this year, though, belongs to a caroling performance by members of the high school choir that gained the attention and appreciation of the crowd by further allowing the attendees to get into the festive spirit. Members of the high school choir shared their experience singing at the celebration. Junior Jinny Zhao said, âSanta Claus was so sweet, and him lighting the tree was the best!â Sophomore Luke Parambil added, âItâs so nice that we can all get together as a community and celebrate the joy of Christmas.â These studentsâ remarks reflect the warm and nostalgic feeling events like these bring, reminding us of the holiday seasonâs power to inspire joy and connection.
