The Unionville Golf Team is entering a pivotal stretch of the season with plenty of determination. With an important matchup against Rustin coming up, they are eager to test themselves against strong competition. “It’s looking bright: we have a big match this week and the tides could turn either way,” said sophomore Dhilan Chopra, capturing both the excitement and the uncertainty of high-level play. The team will continue to rely on their key senior players Nick Gaughn, Charlie Barrickman, and Cole Donelly as the season continues.
A key theme this season has been consistency. Golf can often hinge on small details, and Unionville has been working to maintain steady play throughout their matches. “The team is working on consistency,” Chopra explained, emphasizing the importance of building reliability into every round. By maintaining focus and composure, the players are looking to turn that consistency into victories.
One of the main goals for the team is learning how to score low at the right times. The athletes recognize that it isn’t just about individual rounds, but about coming through in pressurized situations when it matter most. Chopra commented, “Scoring low and consistently and at the right times,” a guiding philosophy for the team that shaped how they approached both practice and competition.
Looking ahead, the team has its eyes set on bigger stages. With the Chernobyl Invitational coming up in October, the team hopes to use the event as a springboard into district competition and beyond. Their long-term vision is clear: to make a deep run that could carry them all the way to the state level. Under head coach James O’Rourke, If the team can continue improving while staying consistent, Unionville will prove to be a serious contender this fall.
