The Super Bowl Split

The annual American NFL Super Bowl 2026, occurring on February 8, is one for the books. Which team will win? How loud will the fans cheer? No matter where you’re sitting, whether it be amongst the number-one fans in San Francisco or hollering at your television screen all Sunday night, the entertainment will never fail to disappoint. The advancing teams in the nail-biting game include the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. However, don’t act too surprised: we’ve seen this competition before. The two teams are going against each other for the tenth time ever in the Super Bowl. We all know that one team is blood hungry for a rematch.

Not only is the Super Bowl central to football, but it also shines light on the hands that feed both team’s home cities. Seattle, home of the beloved and ever-famous Starbucks, raises rivalry against New England, the birthplace of Dunkin’. People from each side hoot for one way, and they claim that the game will settle the split between the awkward coffee shop divide. So, if your heart–or rather, your mouth–belongs to Starbucks instead of the Dunkin’ that America runs on, then your winning team could be swayed based on this bias.

Let’s talk statistics: the New England Patriots have a winning record of 17 to 3, which just beats the Seahawks’ shy of 16 to 3. Now to level the playing field, the Patriots recently lost their staple quarterback, Tom Brady. After the 2022 season, he decided to retire and become an NFL broadcaster. Ever since that point, the Patriots’ team has not made it thus far. Critics against the New England Patriots have remarked that their games have become “easier,” which is the sole reason for their advancement. So, despite the lower score record within the season, will the Seahawks be able to squeeze in the winning touchdown?

During the Super Bowl, everybody is enthralled by the halftime performance. The annual show will be displaying Bad Bunny, a three-time Grammy Award winner and the 2026 Album of the Year recipient. Though Bad Bunny is in the spotlight, will his sparkling fire shine through in the production he puts on stage? Leave it to the fans and the media to pick apart the details from the clothes, the songs, and the backup dancers. Other musicians during halftime will include artists like Charlie Puth and Green Day in quite the mashup!

Post-Super Bowl Follow-Up: The big Sunday night premiere was a sight for everyone to be left in shock, entertainment, and victory. The Seattle Seahawks won their winning score of 29-13, while Bad Bunny’s halftime performance included many pop-up guests such as Alix Earle, Lady Gaga, and Ricky Martin. Everyone watching grabbed their popcorn and stayed for all the laughter and comical commercials (even Starbucks!)
